Addictive, even in this highly unfinished state.. FTL + XCOM + Mass Effect.Excellent game that you can play in small chunks of time.. While writing this, I've put in less than 5 hours, however... I can tell i'm going to sink in too many hour in this game, even before it's finished. And once it does finish, I'll sink that many more hours in. Excellent game even in an early state. I highly recommend it.. It's not even close to FTL or X-COM, they wanted to be, but failed. Nevertheless you could try. 30min is enough to evaluate and claim refund.. EA is one thing, but there's almost no content whatsoever ATM. It plays like a demo. I'm assuming you get quests at bars? The ones I've been to are all empty. There's very little selection in character appearance or skill set, in squad size, in base building, or in anything. People are saying this is like a mix of XCom and FTL, but truthfully it's not like anything. It might become a game like that, but right now, Galaxy Squad isn't far enough along to make any claims. I can say it doesn't crash to desktop, but other than that it is a complete skeleton.I know a lot of people are willing to give any EA game a positive review regardless of how buggy or empty it is. I don't get how that helps buyers make a decision. My belief is that if you're putting something on Steam, it should be both entertaining and playable. This is playable in that it doesn't crash, but there's nothing entertaining here yet.This will probably be worth buying, as a game, 3-6 months after my review. Until then this is more like a kickstarter.. I highly do not recommend it. It has one of the WORST interface EVER!!!it's really INCONVENIENT... and I will not elaborate on those but this game needs so much improvements... it's really repetitive and has no DEPTH whatsoever... do not recommend this game at all!. For as badly hobbled together X-com has been lately it is a billion years ahead of this game and this guy wants 1/4th of their price point while giving 1/1000th of game quality.Cover is a joke. You dont need it you can just mow things down in open area youll be fine.Just stun, shoot, rinse, repeat. There is no impending chase. You can dither about as the redline catches up with you a very long time.Why do i know how much time you can waste on the side doing samey type things because the game has crashed on its third linear story mission 100% of the time. Every time. With out fail. New games.. old games..Just more garbage at a $10 price point you dont need. Literally any other thing you could buy for $10 dollars would support a better craft than this one.Burning the money would give you more joy.I don't care that its a solo developer. Why should that be an excuse while you ask me to open my wallet. Even full on developed at the speed we are going now to be a game worth $10 dollars... or 1/2 a marvel movie ticket would be years away. This guy isnt going to complete this project to a useable standard. No way. I'd bet $10 dollars.. and still have more fun having done it.. Just peeking into it I can say:- seems to be solid design and programming- simple but appealing 3d- already very playable- LOTS of potentialOnly critics so far: - no manual save/load or multiple saves (and I dont want to discuss my whimpy playstyle, ok?). Easy fun game so far. Plays ok on the crappy work comptuer so lunch is that little bit better.. Still pretty unpolished at this point, but I think it has a lot of potential as a more stripped-down indie alternative to games like XCOM, and the dev seems to be working quite hard at it so I give it a vote of confidence. Well worth keeping an eye on.Like:- Seems to have a pleasant variety of options already, lots of sidequests to do, exploration, ship upgrades- Combat is fun and challenging without being overly complex. Very easy to get intoDislike:- English translation is poor. After 2 hours I've at least 6 or 7 spelling/grammar errors, and characters speak crudely.- Interface in general needs a bit more information, tooltips, visual feedback/JUICE
